Because the lowest frequency the human ear can detect as a sound is 16 HZ. The difference of 10 HZ will be the binaural beat caught by the brain. To illustrate: 550 HZ is being presented to your right ear and 560 HZ to the left ear simultaneously. The pitch difference is usually very insignificant (no more than 30 HZ), but once recognized it becomes a low-frequency pulse for the brain and makes it follow this pulse. This is an ancient knowledge which has been utilized for centuries by our ancestors.Ī binaural beat is the tone (or frequency) perceived by the brain when two different tones very close in pitch are sent to the listener’s ears simultaneously and interfere with one another, resulting in them producing a third tone which is the difference between their pitches. ![]() But even for these people, binaural beats can form an invaluable tool to make them feel different and strip some strain off their nerves.Įven listening to binaural beats twice a week for a start will help you discover the potency that they can manifest for the emotional state, brain and body. Sometimes people become so stressed, rigid and merged with their hectic pace that they literally reject anything that could calm them down, eventually even losing track of what initially triggered the stress. ![]() Here is another simple trick to get your mind closer to the quiet state. For some people, signing up for the “inspirational quotes” pages on Facebook may be the kickstarter. Tuning into yourself is personal for everybody, and you don’t need daily yoga, meditations, mantras and esoteric readings to start. Isn’t it ironic then, that this natural state has been treated as unnatural for most of human history? If you make sound therapy exercises a part of your daily (or at least weekly) routine, it may bring some fresh tides into your sense of wellbeing, where “being present” is not something lofty or requiring tons of inner stamina, but rather a natural state of mind when you feel relaxed, tuned in, sensitive, thoughtful and psychic. ![]() Those who don’t have time or inclination for spiritual work may consider it too far out. These days people have lost their connection with many powerful elements of energy and nature, sound being one of them-as a means of healing and brain entertainment.Īlthough sound therapy may be familiar to those who do some spiritual practice, its benefits are still largely underestimated by modern society. An Extraordinary Practice for Your Brain’s Health and Creativity ![]() ![]() The ascension does not show us in advance the setting of the final parousia it is rather the activation of the paschal energy of Christ who “fills all things” (Ephesians 4:10). Is that not the meaning of the answer the angels gave to the disciples: “Why are you Galileans standing here looking into the sky? This Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven will come back in the same way as you have seen him go to heaven” (Acts 1:11). The movement of the ascension will be complete only when all the members of his body have been drawn to the Father and brought to life by his Spirit. ![]() The ascension is progressive “until we all…form the perfect Man fully mature with the fullness of Christ himself” (Ephesians 4:13). He became a son of man in order that we might become children of God. If, however, we reduce this “ascent” to a particular moment in our mortal history, we simply forget that beginning with the hour of his cross and resurrection Jesus and the human race are henceforth one. Jesus is, of course, at his Father’s side. His ascension is a progressive movement, “from beginning to beginning.” 2 “He leads captives,” namely, us, to the new world of his resurrection, and bestows his “gifts,” his Spirit, on human beings (see Ephesians 4:7-10). The Lord has not gone away to rest from his redemptive toil his “work” (John 5:17) continues, but now at the Father’s side, and because he is there he is now much closer to us, “very near to us,” 1 in the work that is the liturgy of the last times. Our last times are located between that first ascension and the ascension that will carry him to the zenith of his glorious parousia. He who is the splendor of the Father and who once descended into the depths of our darkness is now exalted and fills all things with his light. For this reason, the hymns we use in our churches sing of him as “the Sun of justice” that rises in the East. In his ascension, then, Christ did not at all disappear on the contrary, he began to appear and to come. Above all, however, it marks the beginning of an entirely new relationship of faith and of a new time: the liturgy of the last times. It does indeed mark the end of something that is not simply to be cast aside: the end of a relationship to Jesus that is still wholly external. But in fact the ascension is a decisive turning point. In the mind of readers not submissive to the Spirit, a page has been turned they now begin to think of Jesus as in the past and to speak of what “he said” and what “he did.” They have carefully sealed up the tomb again and filled up the fountain with sand they continue to “look among the dead for someone who is alive” and they return to their narrow lives in which some things have to do with morality and others with cult, as in the case of the upright men and women of the old covenant. A superficial reading of the end of the Synoptic Gospels and the first chapter of Acts can give the impression that Christ simply departed. Their lack of appreciation of it is closely connected with their lack of appreciation of the mystery of the liturgy. It is highly regrettable that the majority of the faithful pay so little heed to the ascension of the Lord. Adoremus is grateful to Ignatius Press for permission to reprint the following excerpt on the ascension from The Wellspring of Worship (59–62). ![]() Jean Corbon (1924-2001) was born in Paris, ordained a priest for the Greek-Catholic eparchy in Beirut, and was the principal author of Part IV of the Catechism of the Catholic Church on the topic of prayer. Ramen is often topped with chashu (pork slices) or in some cases, ground pork, as well as nori (dried seaweed), menma (bamboo shoots), scallions and tamago (egg). ![]() It is believed that Mitsukuni became the first Japanese person to eat ramen, although most historians reject this theory as a myth. Another theory is that ramen was introduced to Japan as early as the 1660s by Zhu Shunsui, a Chinese neo-Confucian scholar who served as an advisor to powerful Japanese magnate, Tokugawa Mitsukuni, after he became a refugee in Japan to escape the Qing Dynasty. Literally means “pulled noodles”, ramen, which typically consists of egg noodles bathing in pork broth seasoned with shoyu (soy sauce), shio (salt) or miso (soybean paste), is believed to have been introduced to Japan by Chinese immigrants in the 19th century. While there is a wide array of noodle soup dishes globally, one that is a constant favourite is ramen. Until now, Caesar's behavior had been more or less normal for a Roman senator with strong ambitions. His governorship in 61 marks an important turning point in Caesar's career. However, the richest man in Rome, Marcus Licinius Crassus, who thought he could use the immensely popular politician, paid Caesar's debts (830 talents, 17,500 kg silver) and Caesar had himself elected governor of Baetica, where he had already been quaestor. He had paid for the games of 65, the lobbies for the pontificate in 63 and the praetorship in 62, and had paid a lot of money to get out of the Good Goddess affair. The optimates argued that the high priest must have been involved too, and Caesar's only way to prevent larger troubles, was to divorce his wife.Ĭaesar was bankrupt by now. ![]() These ceremonies of the Good Goddess were celebrated exclusively by women in the house of the pontifex maximus, but a man had been able to be present (5 December 62). This time, they managed to rise accusations against Caesar, who they said was involved in a desecration of certain secret ceremonies. Nevertheless, he was elected praetor, and the optimates became nervous for the first time, because Caesar was extremely popular with the masses. Caesar's opposition to the death penalty again represents his 'popular' policies, and probably he knew a lot more about the plot than he wished to acknowledge. This second conspiracy was discovered by the consul Cicero, who had Catilina's followers executed at the instigation of Marcus Porcius Cato the Younger (95-46 BCE), a representative of the traditionalist wing of the optimates. In this capacity, he proposed a moderate line against the followers of Catilina, who had made a second attempt to seize power. Two years later, Caesar had himself elected pontifex maximus or high priest. The leader of the plot, one Catilina was able to continue his career as a social reformer. ![]() This same year, he was accused of complicity in a plot to murder the consuls, but was not sentenced. In this way, as a true popularis, he would control their votes in the People's Assembly. He organized great games, making sure that the Roman mob would remember his name. That by now he had developed political ambitions is shown by an incident in Hispania: in Gades he saw a statue of Alexander the Great, and lamented that he had as yet performed no memorable act, whereas at his age -33 years old- Alexander had already conquered the whole world.Īfter his return from Hispania, Caesar was elected aedile (in 65) and responsible for 'bread and circuses'. This was a way of claiming Marius' inheritance. ![]() (A quaestor was a magistrate with financial tasks in a province.) Before his departure, Marius' widow Julia died, and Caesar held a funeral speech in which he praised his aunt and her family. In 68, he was quaestor and served in Baetica, a province in Hispania which is roughly equivalent to modern Andalusia. A career as a general and a politician had started. Being a war hero by now, Caesar returned to Rome in 73. On his own initiative and expenses, Caesar raised a small army and defended some towns, giving the official Roman commander Lucius Licinius Lucullus (117-56 BCE) time to organize an army and attack the enemy's homeland. They were interrupted, however, when Mithridates of Pontus attacked Asia Minor a second time (74). After this incident, he continued his studies ( text). After the ransom was paid, Caesar manned some ships, defeated the bandits and had them crucified. Caesar demanded this prize to doubled (after all, he was an aristocrat) and promised to punish his captors. In 75, he went to Rhodes for further education, and was again captured by pirates, who asked the usual tariff. This was a normal thing to do, and Caesar stayed far from politics. When Sulla died in the first weeks of 78, Caesar felt save to return to Italy, where he picked up a career as a criminal lawyer. All his courage, however, did not help him when - on his way back home - he was captured by Cilician pirates and forced to pay the usual ransom, 25 talents (c.500 kg) of silver. There is more certainty about another event: during the siege of Miletus, Caesar gained a decoration for bravery ( corona civica). Caesar was sent on a diplomatic mission to king Nicomedes IV Philopator of Bithynia (ruled 94-74) and was rumored to have had a love affair with this ruler. Between 81 and 79, Caesar served in Asia Minor on the personal staff of Marcus Minucius Thermus, who was praetor. |
